(RAD) Abstract: Russia played an unusually large role in the chaotic 2016 American presidential election. President Vladimir Putin was an object of debate between the two candidates, while the Russian government was seen as intervening in the election. Russia’s purpose likely was not to support either of the candidates, but to undermine the legitimacy of American democracy.
