(GW Presidential Inbox) "Russia's Role and Relationship" – Research Professor Robert Orttung and Research Associate Sufian Zhemukhov take us to Russia in this episode of the Presidential Inbox. What is the U.S.’s relationship going to be like with Russian President Putin and Russia as a whole if either presidential candidate is elected?
Zhemukhov: With every new U.S. administration, there are ups and downs between the United States and Russia. With Trump, it would be the same: U.S.-Russia relations in the beginning would be, maybe for one or two years, a kind of bromance between Trump and Putin… and then there would be a crisis.
Orttung: As Russia sees its influence declining, it's going to try to find ways to insert itself into international politics… usually as a rogue actor rather than as a cooperative player.
