(Report) Among European countries Germany has the deepest interest in and traditions of engaging with Russia politically and economically. Almost every week Berlin hosts multiple Russia-focused events that send diverse – though often contradictory – messages to German diplomacy. In this paper I will show how different are the messages addressed to Germany by the anti-Putin opposition and the Kremlin, and what options are available for Germany’s Ostpolitik.
