Jean-François Ratelle summarizes the causes and results of conflicts in the North Caucasus over the last thirty years. Ratelle is Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa and Adjunct Professor at Carleton University. His research interests include insurgency, Caucasus, Russia, foreign fighters, terrorism and counterterrorism, and civil wars.
