Cory Welt, Associate Director of the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (IERES) at the Elliott School, and Samuel Charap, Associate Director for Russia and Eurasia at the Center for American Progress, released a report and provided policy recommendations regarding the Georgia-Russia war of August 2008.
At an open event at the Center for American Progress on February 15, they reviewed the Washington policy debates on the war over Abkhazia and South Ossetia and explained why the time is right for a more proactive U.S. approach to the region.
The discussants at the event were Damon Wilson, Atlantic Council, and Alexander Cooley, Columbia University.
